Brittany's Seat Conversion

My girlfried has a CBR600 F4 and thats right it is a F4 not an F4i, all and all it's a pretty decent bike. But its BANANA Yellow and it has a Banana SEAT!!!! I hate the seat most of all and it doesn't help the bike is yellow...... that and it needs some updates to make it look like a much newer bike. Like the single headlight... to a dual headlight conversion. And Some Sweet paint to make it all Look great...

It does have the Polished frame, and wheels going for it, and a Micron Exhaust, custom grips, and is lowered about 4 inches. It runs great and it a perfect size for her, we just need to get it up to date.

So on to this swap! The tail swap it pretty straight forward and really simple on this bike. What do we need?

Here what u need to get started!! All the following parts should be for or from a 2001-2003 Honda F4i:

The Major Parts:

- Subframe

- Rear Cowl - new or used, generic aftermarket replacement(will need to be painted to match your bike so color is not important)

- Rear footpegs

- Rear Tail Light

- Undertray, with Battery compartment Lid... Important to relocate the ECU module

After Market Undertail - you won't need a brakelight or a undertray, as the undertail replaces them

- Front Seat

- Rear Seat

And random hardware to make it all work.

Before
After
It Provides a MUCH sportier look then the original Banana Seat did. This make the CBR600 F4 look like a much newer bike!

I would also like to swap the single headlight both the dual head light fairing setup. That would really help update bike alot! And I really belive it will look great. And Then to finish off the bike in a Fusha and Black zebra strips  and chrome CBR600 and Honda Logos!
Single Light Before

Duel Light After

What this might look like

So we started on the conversion. but not to a f4i a GSXR Solo tail! It Fit well and should be easy for me to swap out here is a teaser pic!

I just need to Find a GSXR Seat and some type of undertail and we should be golden!

FB RX7 S13 Suspension: So how bout that suspension

I have been thinking long and hard on my suspension setup for the rx7, looks as if I will be using a pieced together system of 240sx and Mustang parts. my, ideal goal is to run QA1 coil-overs on the rx7, but QA1 doesn't make a system for many imports, sadly the rx7 is not one of them. So, nobody makes tubular adjustable control arms, racing beat makes adjustable arms but I don't like them, and they are pricey!

These are for the FB Rx7 and cost $425

What I had been dreaming was some tubular adjustable arms. like these.....
These are for a S13 and cost $175
Simple the cost is much cheaper, and why couldn't I adapt S13 arms to the FB, And with them adjustable I can get them almost perfect to where I need them.
The origanal Idea as to just use these LCAs and replace the RX7 coilover system with one from RE Speed.  Then I saw this.... an rx7 LCA and a S13 LCA next to eachother
Almost the Same Idea I had so did someone in Japan, but i was going to do this with after-market parts, and a better set-up to adjust it to work properly. He Also noted that the lower ball joints had the same pitch and bolt directly to the rx7 gear, if that was your plan......
I have confirmed that the stock S13 LCA will fit the rx7 as well, the rx7 tension rods bolting up as well, so there is a very cheap alternative. they will still need the bushings shaved down and the bolt holes upsized to M14 but pretty much bolt in goodness.

Here is where my idea struck... Why stop there? Why not use the s13 knuckles brakes and coil-overs?  The brakes are bigger and the coil-overs better , and the parts are very easy to come by.

Bigger Brakes
Better Coilover Options
Common Parts

Sounds like a plan to me!

But I had trouble finding s13 coil-overs that would fit my budget and get the job done. There are many out there you could run whatever you like when it comes to them. I really like the Stance line, and priced the ksport line, and still kinda wanted QA1s mainly for price and that local circle track places would have parts if i need to ever overhaul them.  The biggest setback is that QA1 doesn't make the lower mounting brackets to fit S13's, hell they don't make many at all! But they do make them for the mustang!  Now I'm still not sure if they are close to the same bolt pattern or spacing as a S13. So, the only research I currently have to do on the suspension setup is find out how the the s13 strut mounts compare to mustang strut mounts, if they are close....then QA1 shocks and Struts on all four sides of my Rx7 is possible! And if you wanted to go a cheaper route you could used a set of mustang struts and strange Engineering coil-overs.

Next, I'll need a  Camber/Caster Strut Bearing Plate to mount the coilover to. RE speed sells one for the FB.....

But at about $200 is kinda pricey!  Camber plate for the FC Rx7 go for around $75. Much cheaper and will fit in the 1st gen with alittle  bit of drilling the opening on the stock mount holes.
Then pretty much The whole front suspension is finished! I will still need to work out the swaybar goodies and and spring rates, steering knuckle mount location, tierod ends,  but I belive the whole front suspension is doable!

QA1 Carrera Shock Commonly Found Used For Around $30

Carrera QA1 shock are easy for me to come by as they are commonly used in circle track racing and once I measure my shocks, I will have almost a direct replacement. and as far as ride height adjustment

Now after completing this swap with all s13 gear, i have also help a friend do one entirely with FC suspension as well.

Check out Part 2 for how i did it

My RX7

People that know me know that the RX7 I call "Savannah" or Anna Is my forever going on going project. I bought this car wheni was 18 and have been building it ever since. An Rx7 was always my dream car and i bought one as soon as i could afford it. Over the years it has changed alot, going from a rotary motor to a V8 and suspesion from stock to custom pieced together goodies. So now that you have the intro on this car, I'm sure I will be posting idea about this, for my motor, and for the car, from pistons to rear end.

First Post

So this is the first post, This is not really a place to tell everyone my ideas, but to put them down, if anyone, decides to discuss them maybe I will develop them more. This is mostaly just for me, I was Inspired to start this mainly because alot of my friends run a blog like these and my friend Jesse he claimed  and I quote, " Your Full of crazy Ideas!, They're all awesome , too!". And I happen to agree. I'm kind of  a jack of all trades, and I see things in a differently then most people. I'm definitely an "out of the Box" thinker. I have many interests; Cars, Motorcycles, Snowmobiles, Engineering,  Web programming, Linux, android phones, restoration, welding, tools, painting, printing equipment, so much that I can even list them all. But many times I look at the experience i have in each field and try to apply them across all of them.
